University of Fiber

Three higher education and research institutions, namely, Shinshu University, the University of Fukui, and the Kyoto Institute of Technology aim to integrate their educational and research resources and utilize their own particular strengths as universities for opening a graduate school, majoring in “Textile and Fiber Engineering,” and building a world-leading alliance of textile universities in the textile field. A "Textile and Fiber Engineering" course will be started as a Master’s course at each graduate school. Through collaboration between the Association of Universities for Textiles, Textile Qualification Related Associations, and Textile-Related Societies, there will be academic internships and classes taught by faculty members from overseas universities. The aim is to provide engineers and researchers with consistent knowledge and skills in each field, from the basics to application and product development, thus nurturing a global perspective, problem-setting and problem-solving skills, and leadership abilities. This is the type of initiative being carried out by the three universities.
