About Kyoto Craftsmanship
Kyoto, the thousand-year capital, craftsmanship has constantly incorporated new things while cherishing the spirit of antiquity in the lives of the townspeople.
The textile industry, in particular, has been created as a key industry from the history of craftsmen's wisdom and passion for many years.
The Center for Fiber and Textile Science takes full advantage of Kyoto's unique location and, as the only university in Japan with the word "fiber" in its Japanese name, works closely with the local textile industry in the fields of education and research. We aim to create a base for "local knowledge" in the region. As one of our attempts, we will regularly visit companies in Kyoto that have been continuing their business activities based on their outstanding manufacturing technology for many years. We exchange information about technical engineering, research, and education.
